Just FYI, i have asked management, and it is confirmed that we are allowed to cover the kitchen window with the wall.

If I see it correctly, the kitchen window is sort of a fire escape as one side of the window is open wide enough to act as an exit. Just my thought.
Can someone please share how best to maintain the function of that window, yet keeps off the rain and ensures the free flow of air.
I am afraid the kitchen will be stuffy if the fresh air supply is cut off.
Thanks so much.

agreed with jsf..
What i did for my wet kitchen is i put on a sliding window, exhaust output on the top, and one of the shelf cabinet is slighltly overlap the window. and the top of that particular cabinet helps to conceal the exhaust piping.
i will post up a photo tonight.

Thanks Ray. You are insightful. If ever I were to buy another unit, I must first seek expertise from you. Inborn or acquired?

as promised although is slightly late here are some pictures of my wet kitchen... you can see the top shelf is overlapping part of the sliding window. on top right, you can see another boxup was done to conceal the piping for the exhaust fan from the toilets as I installed exhaust fans for all 3 toilets. the bathroom 2 and 3 exhaust piping are combines and coming out from this boxup. for masterbathroom, the exhaust is just sucking up the air into the ceiling, some contractor say it may cause mold to grow after some years, but what the hell, this way is the least expensive way. all the pipings above the washing machine are also concealed above the plaster ceiling. here you can see the piping for the kitchen hob exhaust concealed in the cabinet. sorry for the messiness in my kitchen, i really don't have much time to tidy up things sometime as much as i like them to be organized. oh yeah, if you need to know my kitchen is done by Unity Kitchen. I think they are mid-range for the price and quality. I'm quite happy with their service overall, just that their after sales service is quite pathetic. Will never return my call, and I have to kept chasing them. I was about to introduce them to my other friends, but once experience their after sales, okay, let's move on.

Thanks so much for the detailed explanations and great photos.
I am very impressed.
Sometimes we can use the contractors for reno only once. If they fail in the after sales service, who would dare to recommend them to friends, relatives, neighbours, etc.!
You are right, time to move on.

anyone knows a good contractor for sliding doors? I'm meeting one of the contractor tomorrow from Vitaly. not sure what other choices i can try.
i would like to have a sliding door for my walk-in wardrobe and kitchen. the kitchen one is the one i least headache on for my wardrobe, there is some complication as both the sides wardrobe, would be more narrow than the single sliding door and above is plaster ceiling, alot of contractor says it won't provide sufficient support to hold the door.
anyone has any professional contractor that I can give it a try?
*sorry for sidetracking from the thread just a little bit.*

hi rtek84,
may i know is your unit 1293 type or 1415 type? mine is 1293 type but feeling headache how to make a larger wardrobe due to the layout. would like to know how you build the walk-in wardrobe.
as for contractor for sliding door, maybe you can try Reliance Home? Lot of my friend said they are quite good. I'm thinking to check out there as well.

hi, just want to share also.. mine is 1293 sf. i used interior designer. currently under 1st drawing. drawing for master bedroom hasn't come out. but as per discussion, the walk in wardrobe will be divided to 2 pcs, becoz it is too high. so will be another top cabinet. it is just like my current house. i did the same thing. it still look nice. and for me, the most headache is the wet kitchen. i want my kitchen to be perfect! hehehe.. my dream is to have a nice wet kitchen hehehe... the trouble comes becoz of the ducting of the cooker hood as manangement doesn't allow us to make a drill. as per discussion we will make an exhaust at the corner of the window. and seems it may look 'weird' in terms of the beauty, we will cover some part of window. means to make the window smaller at the left and right side. The reason why i want to make the right side window smaller becoz it won't make the kitchen cabinet symmetric. this is what i thought... my ID took note about that, so now i am waiting for the solution and the design from her hehehhe
