I think unifi is better because the package already includes happyTV and the price is 150 RM monthly. With Time we need to apply for Astro IPTV and the price is 248 RM !!!

Hi rtek84, do you mind to share more about the installation of time fiber BB? I heard that it is different with unifi where it is 100% fiber direct to home. Wonder how can we conceal the cables and where does the fiber cable comes from.

hi Isaac, i'm not sure about if it is 100% fiber. You know how I can check that?
The fiber is going above the ceiling, I had them installed just right before my plaster ceiling was installed, so it is all conceal. There is existing telephone cable casing above all our ceilings in Covillea already actually, what the TIME worker does is there just push the fibre cable right from outside the corridor ceiling all the way to the place near the phone line output.

Hi rtek84,
If the cable is directly pull from outside until your modem, then it is 100% fiber optic cables. For unifi, if not mistaken they are using existing telephone line to connect to your house.

then i think it should be fibre. cuz the fibre string is connected directly to the back of the modem.

I've installed iptv with Time (6 mb). Connection is good so far, but only at the living area where the modem is located (ie. near the TV). I can even watch youtube, without lag on the smart tv. Setback is the connection gets weak when i enter my masteroom and the 2nd room, so my PC cant be connected to wifi in the rooms at the moment.

The trick is try to place your wifi router as high as possible to maximize the area coverage. And try not to have any other electrical appliances in its way or situated too near.
If this too fail, u can try and consider using homeplug or changing to a stronger wifi router.

perhaps rtek can volunteer to be the main contact person and gathered confirmed owners/tenants that would like to procure unifi services. once minimum of say 20 or 30 pax achieved, perhaps tm would consider and willing to provide their services here?

Hi Ray, I am about to renovate my house soon and was wondering is there anything I need to tell my contractor to do (for eg. hacking wall, inserting pipe) to prepare for concealing the fiber cable? In your previous post, you mentioned that there is already telephone line casing above the ceiling. Can we just reuse that and the fiber cable will be 100% fully concealed? The fiber installation has to be done prior to plaster ceiling installation? Is possible to install the fiber (with all concealed) after all renovation is done? Need your expert advice . Thanks.

yes, please install the TIME before the plaster ceiling so everything can be concealed properly.. and those workers from TIME they are quite familiar with Covillea's units d, they know roughly where is the phone line casing. but if u only install TIME after ur plaster ceiling, then too late..
or if u don't plan to have any plaster ceiling, there will be a small hole they need to hack on the ceiling, so most probably u just need ur wet works contractor to do up some patching and painting work to cover back the small hole that the TIME workers need to hack.
